Hyderabad: In a recent address, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, emphasized the crucial role of district Congress committee (DCC) presidents in shaping the future of the party and the nation. Speaking at the conclusion of a training camp for DCC presidents from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh held at Haritha Resorts in Ananthagiri, he encouraged these leaders to aspire for higher positions such as MLAs, MPs, and even chief ministers. He reassured them that there was no need to fear anyone and urged them to avoid sycophancy, highlighting that they are the eyes and ears of the party.

Gandhi urged the DCC presidents to connect with the public simply and effectively. He made it clear that their actions should not be driven solely by the desire for positions; instead, they should focus on understanding and addressing the needs of the people. He called for a concerted effort to rebuild trust in the Congress party among the masses and improve its reputation. During his four-hour meeting with the DCC leaders, he outlined a vision for the party’s future and emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement.

During his speech, Rahul Gandhi pointed out that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not prioritize the welfare of the people and is focused on maintaining power at all costs. He stated, “The DCC presidents are supreme. You are all part of my team. The future belongs to us.” He reminded them that they have been given unprecedented authority and urged them not to misuse their positions. Instead, he encouraged them to engage closely with the people, stating that Congress has been in power longer than any other party, which should work to its advantage in fostering public support.

Gandhi also contrasted the ideologies of the Congress and the BJP, asserting that while BJP leans towards divisive politics, Congress stands for unity and social justice. He emphasized that the principles of non-violence and inclusiveness should guide their approach, stating, “We must think of all religions and communities for their welfare. Our party symbol represents a hand that should uplift everyone.” He encouraged the leaders to work towards gaining the trust of the people, asserting that the Congress party’s philosophy is about bringing everyone together rather than fostering division.

Highlighting current political dynamics, he remarked on the need to educate citizens about the government’s shortcomings, particularly regarding trade deals that he claims compromise the interests of farmers. He labeled these actions as part of a larger conspiracy that prioritizes the profits of a few over the welfare of millions of farmers, resulting in significant losses for the agricultural community.

Notably, Rahul Gandhi praised Telangana’s Chief Minister Revanth Reddy as a powerful leader committed to advancing the government’s agenda in favor of the people. He underscored the importance of coordination between the party and the government, urging all leaders to work collectively to enhance public trust in the Congress party.

Prior to addressing the DCC presidents, Gandhi participated in a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee in a local degree college where he engaged with party leaders and extended his greetings. The event included remarks from several prominent figures, and he took time to interact with the families of DCC presidents, underlining the importance of building personal connections within the party framework.

As Congress continues to navigate its role in the political landscape, Rahul Gandhi’s call to action reflects a renewed commitment to grassroots engagement and a united front against divisive politics. The upcoming elections will certainly test these strategies and the party’s ability to resonate with the electorate.
