Amaravathi, East Godavari: The political landscape in Andhra Pradesh is heating up following an attack on YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Ambati Rambabu’s residence, which has sparked widespread discussions about politically motivated violence in the state. Former minister and YSRCP leader Gudivada Amar Nath, addressing the media on Tuesday, criticized the handling of the incident and the broader implications for governance in the state.
Amar Nath pointed to the attack as indicative of a larger pattern of politically charged aggression, stating, “Those who orchestrated the attack are roaming free while the victims have been imprisoned. This is a clear violation of constitutional norms in the state.” His remarks reflect deep concerns about the erosion of democratic principles and the safety of political figures in Andhra Pradesh.
The former minister did not shy away from addressing the pressing issues faced by the people of the state, particularly farmers and women, who he claimed are suffering under the current administration. “All that the government seems to be focused on is publicity marketing and event management. There is no coherent budget plan in place, and this is perhaps the worst budget in the history of our state,” he added, highlighting the lack of transparency regarding the state’s financial management.
Amar Nath pointed out that under the previous government, loans amounting to ₹2.7 lakh crore were credited to the accounts of the poor, suggesting a stark contrast to the financial strategies being employed by the current administration. He demanded accountability from former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu regarding the loans taken by the government, emphasizing the need for clarity on how funds are being utilized. “On average, the government takes ₹500 crore in loans every day, yet there are no appropriate allocations for any sector,” he remarked.
The YSRCP leader also highlighted the plight of farmers, who are struggling to obtain essential fertilizers, stating, “Farmers are fighting on the roads for urea. There are outstanding dues of ₹6,000 crore related to fee reimbursements, and significant amounts owed under the Aarogyasri scheme. None of the welfare programs, such as Annadata Sukhibhava or the distribution of three cylinders to the poor, are being implemented effectively.”
Amar Nath expressed his outrage at the alleged misuse of power, claiming that cases are being filed against leaders like Ambati without any lawful justification. “No other state in the country is facing such conditions. In Andhra Pradesh, only the ‘Red Book’ constitution is being enforced,” he stated, indicating a perceived lack of governance and law enforcement in the region.
Further escalating the discourse, Karanam Dharmasree, another political figure, supported Amar Nath’s claims by asserting that a reign of misgovernance prevails in the state. He labeled the current administration’s actions as ruthless and suggested that citizens are growing weary of the regime. “The day of reckoning is near. The only reason Ambati Rambabu faced imprisonment was for questioning the handling of the Tirumala laddus,” he remarked, hinting at the overarching discontent among the public.
As the situation unfolds, the YSR Congress Party continues to stand firm, asserting that their leaders will not be intimidated by threats of imprisonment. The political climate in Andhra Pradesh remains tense, with both sides preparing for an inevitable confrontation as the state heads towards its next electoral challenges.
