In a bold rebuttal, Lokesh, the son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the state’s IT minister, has firmly dismissed the allegations made by the opposition YSR Congress party (YSRCP) regarding the purchase of a new helicopter.
For the past two years, the YSRCP has been persistently claiming that the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government in Andhra Pradesh had acquired a helicopter exclusively for Lokesh’s personal use. However, Lokesh has now categorically denied these allegations, calling them nothing more than “talk” and “rumors” spread by the opposition party.
In a statement, Lokesh asserted that the TDP government has not purchased any new helicopter during its tenure. He explained that the state government continues to use the same helicopter that was acquired earlier, which is utilized for official purposes by the Chief Minister and other senior officials as and when required.
Lokesh emphasized that the helicopter is not for his exclusive use, but rather serves the needs of the entire state government. He accused the YSRCP of engaging in “baseless propaganda” and “spreading misinformation” in an attempt to discredit the TDP government.
The ongoing controversy over the alleged helicopter purchase is the latest in a series of political allegations and counter-allegations between the ruling TDP and the opposition YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. Both parties have been locked in a fierce battle for political dominance, with each side accusing the other of various misdeeds and irregularities.
As the state gears up for the upcoming elections, the issue of the helicopter purchase is likely to remain a contentious talking point, with both the TDP and YSRCP seeking to gain political mileage from the ongoing debate. However, Lokesh’s firm denial of the allegations has raised questions about the veracity of the YSRCP’s claims, and the political landscape in Andhra Pradesh is set to witness further heated exchanges in the days to come.
