In a bold statement reflecting the ongoing tensions within the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh, Kapu community leaders have pledged to support former minister Ambati Rambabu and his family, asserting that they will repay with interest once the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) comes to power. The remarks made during a press conference on Saturday come in the wake of a controversial incident involving an attack on Rambabu’s residence.
A group of Kapu leaders, led by Amar Nath and Karanam Dharmasree, arrived in Guntur with a convoy of 100 vehicles to express their solidarity with the embattled former minister. They condemned what they termed as retaliatory actions against the Kapu community, emphasizing the need to refrain from vendettas against them. Their visit was not just a show of support but a clear message to the ruling party regarding the injustices faced by their community.
During the media interaction, the leaders made a series of accusations against the political adversaries of Rambabu, claiming that he was not only provoked but also unjustly targeted. “They incited violence against Ambati Rambabu and then turned around to file cases against him. Is it acceptable to attack a leader when he questions the government on the fulfillment of promises?” they questioned, expressing their outrage over the situation.
The leaders also addressed the recent controversy surrounding the Tirumala laddus, which had been falsely reported as containing animal fat. They reiterated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had cleared the allegations, asserting that there was no truth to the claims made by coalition leaders. This incident, they argued, was part of a larger pattern of misinformation aimed at discrediting their community.
Furthermore, the Kapu leaders highlighted the alarming number of cases filed against Rambabu, stating that there have been 32 cases registered against him across the state, often with police complicity in the attacks on his home. They characterized the assault on Rambabu’s residence as a heinous act, emphasizing that it was conducted even in the presence of law enforcement.
In a pointed remark aimed at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the leaders indicated that the Kapu community would no longer tolerate the disrespect and marginalization they feel from the party. They expressed confidence that the existing political climate would not last long, suggesting that the people would not continue to accept what they referred to as the “Red Book Constitution” imposed by the TDP. The leaders made it clear that under the leadership of YSRCP, they would seek justice, revealing their commitment to ensuring that they would “pay back with interest” once they regain political strength.
This declaration from the Kapu leaders underscores the growing divide in Andhra Pradesh’s political arena, as community leaders rally together to demand accountability and justice for their constituents. As tensions rise, all eyes will be on the unfolding dynamics between the Kapu community, the YSR Congress Party, and the Telugu Desam Party in the lead-up to future elections.
