Hyderabad: In a fervent response to the remarks made by Telangana Chief Minister regarding the Rayalaseema Lift Scheme, YSR Congress Party General Secretary Gadikota Srikanth Reddy has expressed his anger over the government’s attack on the opposition. Speaking to the media at his residence in Hyderabad, he highlighted the growing concerns among Rayalaseema residents due to the government’s stance, which he deemed irresponsible.
Reddy criticized the ministers’ claims that the Rayalaseema Lift Scheme is unnecessary, labeling such statements as a sign of negligence. He firmly asserted that the ongoing discourse is merely an attempt to undermine the initiative, which he believes is crucial for stabilizing the region, much like the Krishna water usage in Telangana. According to him, the push against the project stems from a desire to mislead the public out of spite towards Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He pointed out that despite serving as Chief Minister for the longest time in both united and bifurcated Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu achieved nothing significant for Rayalaseema. Reddy emphasized that Jagan’s vision is for the betterment of all regions, and the lift project is essential for the agricultural stability of Rayalaseema, particularly in light of the water scarcity challenges faced by the area.
Moreover, he accused Naidu of sabotaging the Polavaram project for personal gains and demanded that the government expedite the completion of the Rayalaseema Lift Scheme. Reddy warned that if the government fails to act, the YSR Congress will ensure its completion, urging the administration not to mislead the public with false information. He stressed that history would not forgive those who misrepresent the facts.
Reddy further criticized Naidu and his coalition leaders for their lack of accountability and for attacking the YSR Congress instead of rectifying their own mistakes. He called out Naidu’s dismissive remarks about the necessity of the Rayalaseema Lift Scheme as irresponsible, especially considering the detrimental impact on the local populace.
He described the ongoing misinformation campaigns by pro-government media as heinous, calling for a more informed discussion on the necessity of the lift scheme instead of half-baked knowledge. Reddy underscored that the misinformation is solely aimed at tarnishing Y.S. Jagan’s image, ignoring the genuine needs of the people.
In detailing the implications of the Rayalaseema Lift project, he explained the technicalities involved, asserting that the lift irrigation scheme would significantly benefit the region. He demanded that the government recognize the project’s importance and not dismiss it lightly, especially in light of the ongoing water disputes with neighboring states.
Reddy concluded by emphasizing that the Rayalaseema region is prepared to stand firm against any attempts to undermine the project. He reiterated that the YSR Congress is committed to the welfare of farmers across all regions, and any efforts to obstruct the Rayalaseema Lift Scheme will be met with strong opposition. He urged the leadership to prioritize the needs of the people over personal political gains, warning that history would not forgive any betrayal of public trust.
