In a heated response to the Governor’s recent address, Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council member Kalyani Varudu expressed strong criticism, labeling the speech as filled with lies and against the public’s interest. During the ongoing assembly sessions, Varudu highlighted that the Governor’s address was disheartening and riddled with falsehoods, similar to the previous budget announcements. She raised concerns over the state’s mounting debt, questioning where the 3.2 lakh crores borrowed by the government had been allocated.
Varudu claimed that the government had deceived all sections of society, asserting that unrest and immoral governance had become prevalent in Andhra Pradesh. She contrasted the current administration with the previous leadership of N. Chandrababu Naidu, stating that the state had never seen such poor governance. While acknowledging that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had delivered welfare programs over five years, she criticized the coalition government for lacking both welfare and development.
Further emphasizing the plight of women, Varudu lamented the decline in women’s empowerment and the dire situation for farmers facing skyrocketing prices. She pointed out educational setbacks, noting that six lakh students had dropped out of school due to deteriorating standards. The lack of fee reimbursements had also severely affected students, leading to significant distress among the youth.
Echoing Varudu’s sentiments, YSRCP member Kalpalatha Reddy condemned the Governor’s speech as entirely anti-people, asserting that citizens were suffering under the current government’s rule. She criticized the administration for ignoring the realities faced by the public, as protests emerged from various communities. Reddy pointed out that employees were under extreme pressure, leading to tragic outcomes, and accused the government of failing to uphold its promises.
In addition to these criticisms, YSRCP member Arun Kumar remarked on the need for a unified voice in the assembly to represent the people’s aspirations, which he claimed was being obstructed by three dominant parties. He argued that the current political climate was reminiscent of Lokesh’s regime rather than adhering to the principles of the Indian Constitution, which he stated was being undermined.
The members of YSRCP voiced their discontent during the Governor’s speech, demanding the recognition of their party as the main opposition and the fulfillment of their rights. Protests erupted within the assembly as they called for the repeal of the privatization of medical colleges and the implementation of unemployment benefits. The discontent among the members was palpable, as they rallied for the government to address critical issues affecting the state.
As the assembly sessions continue, the atmosphere remains charged with tension, reflecting the growing frustrations of the opposition party. The YSRCP is committed to challenging the government’s shortcomings, vowing to expose the failures of the ruling coalition. Meanwhile, the Governor’s address, intended to outline the government’s initiatives, has instead sparked a wave of dissent among opposition members, signaling a turbulent political climate in Andhra Pradesh.
