Sangareddy: The State Election Commission (SEC) has expressed its anger over comments made by former MLA Jagga Reddy, leading to the registration of a case and an order for the Superintendent of Police to submit a report. In response to the SEC’s decision, Jagga Reddy stated that he had just seen the Commission’s reaction regarding the recent altercation in Sangareddy.
Reddy accused the previous BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) government of orchestrating fraudulent voter registrations. He claimed that over 300 bogus votes were registered in each ward, with voters brought in from other regions to bolster the electoral numbers in Sangareddy. He alleged that these fraudulent votes, registered under the BRS government, are now being cast in the ongoing municipal elections.
The former MLA asserted that Congress workers intervened to prevent the casting of these bogus votes, leading to a confrontation when a Congress worker, who was blocking the votes, was apprehended by Circle Inspector Shiva Kumar. Reddy explained that he had gone to the scene to address the situation, which subsequently turned chaotic.
Jagga Reddy raised important questions about the Election Commission’s role, asking why they had not taken action to eliminate these fraudulent votes. He criticized both the SEC and district officials, questioning whether they were responsible for the conflict that had unfolded. “Why hasn’t the Election Commission removed these bogus votes? Are the Election Commission and district officials accountable for this incident? Is it correct for the Commission to file cases against us for trying to stop the casting of fraudulent votes?” Reddy queried.
The ongoing controversy highlights significant concerns regarding electoral integrity in the region, with Jagga Reddy’s remarks shedding light on the potential misuse of voter registration processes. As the municipal elections continue, the SEC faces increasing scrutiny over its handling of the situation and its response to allegations of electoral malpractice.
As tensions mount, the outcome of this confrontation and its implications for electoral fairness will be closely watched by both political analysts and the public. The SEC’s next steps will be crucial in determining how effectively they can address these serious allegations and restore confidence in the electoral process.
