Hyderabad: Telangana BJP chief Ramachandra Rao has accused the Congress party of spreading false propaganda against the BJP, claiming that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Congress are colluding to undermine the ruling party. During a meeting at the state BJP office, Rao called for an investigation into alleged irregularities in the Singareni Naini coal block tenders, asserting that accountability is essential for maintaining transparency in governance.
Rao raised questions about the Congress leaders’ activities in Davos, questioning the purpose of their visit. “What are they doing in Davos?” he asked, emphasizing the need for clarity on the outcomes of such international engagements. This inquiry came during a crucial meeting where state committee members were assigned responsibilities following a four-month review of their work performance.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the state committee’s effectiveness, Rao outlined plans for the BJP to hold five major public meetings across two jointly administered districts featuring prominent leaders such as JP Nadda and Rajnath Singh. He confirmed that proposals have already been sent to BJP national general secretary BL Santosh for organizing these events, aiming to energize the party’s grassroots efforts.
Turning his focus to the political landscape in Telangana, Rao insisted that if the state government requests a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the Singareni Naini coal tenders, the center is willing to comply. He emphasized that the BJP demands a thorough investigation into the irregularities that have allegedly occurred since 2014, stating that accountability must prevail in the state’s dealings.
Rao further critiqued Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s previous visits to Davos, urging him to disclose where the investments brought back from the last trip were utilized and how many jobs were created as a result. He dismissed the trips as mere excursions, questioning whether they were simply for sightseeing rather than fostering genuine economic development. “Davos has turned into a mere destination meeting rather than a platform for attracting real investments,” he remarked.
He pointed out that the Congress government has failed to deliver on bringing in significant investments, calling for a white paper on the investments generated from the two Davos visits. Rao concluded by stating that due to the failures of both Congress and the TRS, the people of Telangana are increasingly looking towards the BJP for leadership and governance.
This meeting and the statements made by Rao reflect the ongoing tensions and political maneuvering as Telangana gears up for future electoral battles. With BJP positioning itself as a viable alternative to the current government, the coming months are likely to see intensified political activities and campaigning across the state.
