In a heated media briefing held in Tadepalli, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Varudu Kalyani made a fervent demand for the immediate arrest of Jana Sena MLA Arava Sridhar. Kalyani’s statements came in the wake of allegations surrounding Sridhar’s conduct, which she claims endangers the safety of women in the state. “Is there any courage left in Chandrababu to arrest an MLA who has committed wrongdoings?” she questioned, emphasizing the need for accountability among elected officials.
Kalyani’s criticism extended beyond Sridhar, as she called into question the lack of action against other party members, including Koneti Adimoolam, Nasir Ahmad, and Koon Ravikumar. “Why hasn’t the government taken action against them?” she asked, pointing out perceived inconsistencies in the law enforcement approach. She highlighted a recent incident in Tirupati, where the government allegedly failed to file a case against Kiran Royal, further fueling her argument regarding the government’s inaction.
The MLC’s remarks suggested a deeper concern about the implications of Sridhar’s actions, implying that there is a systemic failure to protect women in the state. “The actions of Arava Sridhar signify that there is no protection for girls in our state. The MLAs of Jana Sena and TDP have transformed into villains,” she stated, questioning the efficacy of the police system in addressing such serious allegations. Kalyani’s comments challenged the very existence of an accountable government and police force in Andhra Pradesh.
During her address, Kalyani also expressed frustration over the silence from key political figures, including the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Home Minister. “Why are they not speaking out? What actions has Chandrababu taken against his coalition MLAs?” she asked, criticizing the absence of a robust response from those in power. She further condemned Home Minister Anita for her focus on publicity and social media presence rather than prioritizing women’s safety.
The MLC did not hold back her critique of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan either, questioning why he had not responded to the pressing issues at hand. “Why did Pawan Kalyan run away without providing an answer? What is the purpose of forming a party committee regarding the MLA’s actions? Shouldn’t there be a police inquiry?” she demanded, asserting that the lack of response is indicative of a larger problem within the state’s governance.
Adding to her list of grievances, Kalyani pointed out a recent incident involving the son of Minister Sandhya Rani, who was caught gambling. This revelation further exemplified the alleged moral decay among public officials, according to Kalyani. She concluded her remarks with a strong message, urging the authorities to take immediate action and restore faith in the state’s commitment to safety and justice for women.
