In a continuing saga of political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, former minister and YSR Congress Party leader Perni Nani (Venkataramayya) has found himself embroiled in yet another legal controversy. This latest development comes as the coalition government appears to be intensifying its vendetta against him, with authorities registering a new case against him. According to police sources, the case stems from derogatory comments made by Nani against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan during the unveiling of a statue of YSR in Nuzvid.

The incident has sparked outrage within the YSR Congress, who argue that the charges against Nani are politically motivated. During the statue unveiling event, Nani criticized the coalition government, prompting leaders from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to file a complaint at the Inaguduru Police Station in Machilipatnam. TDP officials described Nani’s remarks as incendiary, claiming they incited discord among the public.

In response to the complaint, police have registered a case against Nani under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 196 (1), 353 (2), 351 (2), and 352. The YSR Congress Party has expressed vehement opposition to these actions, asserting that the case is baseless and constitutes harassment by the coalition government. Party officials have criticized the police for acting swiftly on TDP’s complaints while ignoring their own grievances against the coalition leaders.

This is not the first instance where Perni Nani has faced legal troubles due to his political activities. Previously, he was implicated in a ration rice case and was reportedly involved in a clash with CI Yesu Babu at a police station. Additionally, he was accused of humiliating Minister Anagani Prasad. These incidents are seen as part of a broader strategy by the coalition government to undermine Nani and his party.

The YSR Congress has vehemently defended Nani, labeling the latest case as a clear attempt at political repression. They argue that the coalition’s efforts to stifle dissent through legal means are tantamount to undermining democratic values in the state. The party’s leadership has called for an end to what they term as political vendetta, urging the public to recognize the detrimental impact of such actions on the political landscape.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this legal battle will affect Nani’s political career and the broader dynamics between the YSR Congress Party and the coalition government. The allegations and counter-allegations highlight the increasing polarization in Andhra Pradesh politics, setting the stage for a heated political climate as upcoming elections approach.
