Crime Thriller ‘Leven’ Grips Audiences with Twists and Turns
The latest film ‘Leven’, starring Naveen Chandra in the lead role, has hit the theaters today, May 16, in both Telugu and Tamil languages. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has previously worked as an associate director for films like Kaithi, Vikram and 100 Varuvean, the crime thriller has been produced by Azmal Khan and Reya Hari under the banner of AR Entertainment.
The film’s plot revolves around Aravind (Naveen Chandra), a sincere police officer who is transferred to Visakhapatnam as an ACP. Upon his arrival, he quickly solves a theft case, but soon finds himself investigating a series of murders in the city. Initially, the case is handled by ACP Ranjith Kumar (Shashank), but he meets with an accident, leading Aravind to take over the investigation. Assisted by sub-inspector Manohar, Aravind delves deeper into the case, only to uncover a chilling truth – the victims are all connected, and the killer is selectively targeting one of the twins in each case.
As Aravind races against time to catch the serial killer, the film takes the audience on a thrilling journey filled with unexpected twists and turns. The investigation process, which often follows a familiar format in crime thrillers, is presented in a refreshing manner, making it challenging for even regular viewers to predict the identity of the villain. The screenplay masterfully weaves in flashback sequences that add depth to the narrative and tug at the heartstrings.
Naveen Chandra’s portrayal of the ACP Aravind has been widely praised, with the actor seamlessly embodying the mannerisms and demeanor of a seasoned police officer. RiyaHari, in her limited role as the female lead, delivers a commendable performance. The supporting cast, including Dileep, Aadukalam Naren, and Shashank, lend strong support to the lead actors.
Technically, the film excels with D. Imman’s impactful background score and the cinematography that heightens the suspense. The editing keeps the narrative taut, and the overall production values are in sync with the film’s genre and ambitions.
Overall, ‘Leven’ may follow a familiar crime thriller formula, but its engaging storytelling, well-executed twists, and the lead actor’s compelling performance make it a must-watch for fans of the genre. The film’s ability to keep the audience guessing until the very end is a testament to the director’s skill in crafting an immersive cinematic experience.
